Stomatherapy
Stomatherapy is care of patients who have their bowel or bladder diverted surgically onto their abdomen and are required to wear a stoma pouch (a bag) over this opening.
Stoma is a Greek word meaning mouth or opening. Patients may then have a colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy.
We provide continuity of care for patients with a stoma formation providing:
- pre-operative information
- post operative information
- follow up care in the community either by a home visit and nurse led clinics at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Hospital or at one of the local community hospitals within West Berkshire.
We are under the surgical division, but we are our own department. We cover all wards and community hospitals.
Opening hours
Clinic hours: Monday - Friday 8am – 4pm. We are based at Outpatients 1, Level 2, South Block.
