Breast Surgery

The Breast Surgical Department provide a comprehensive service for both benign and malignant conditions, as well as family history screening and a screening service for other patients at high risk of developing breast cancer.

The Surgical Breast Unit is completely integrated with the symptomatic Breast Radiology Service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and with the Breast Screening Service based on Craven Road.

In addition, joint clinics are held with the breast clinical oncologists on a weekly basis, supported by four breast care specialty nurses.

The Breast Reconstructive Service is run by our clinical consultants, who offer a full range of reconstructive and corrective procedures. These consultants work closely with the Plastic surgeons in Oxford for microvascular free flap surgery.
