Team aims to collect 900 presents in Royal Berkshire Hospital Christmas Gift Appeal
Example content:
The Royal Berkshire Hospital’s voluntary services team has launched their annual Christmas Gift Tree Appeal, this year aiming to collect 900 presents. They are seeking support from the local community to help make sure every patient has a gift to wake up to on Christmas morning. These gifts make a huge difference to people spending the Christmas period in hospital, especially if they do not have family or friends visiting them.
The team have worked with local businesses and services to set up eight collection points all across the local area where you can drop off donations directly, as well as an Amazon wishlist with donations delivered directly to the hospital.
Drop off points
- Royal Berkshire Hospital Main Reception, Level 2, Craven Road, RG1 5LE.
- Libraries: Reading Central / Lower Earley / Caversham / Woodley / Pangbourne / Theale
- Link Café, 28 School Road, Tilehurst, RG31 5AN.
Amazon wishlist
The wishlist has hundreds of items on it for patients to enjoy, and range in price from just a couple of pounds and can be delivered direct to the hospital.
To make sure the volunteers have time to sort, wrap and deliver presents to all the wards ready for Christmas morning, they are asking that any donations are with them, unwrapped, by Thursday 14 December.
Sukhi Sidhu, the Trust's Voluntary Services Manager, said: “Every year I’m humbled at all gifts coming into the hospital in the run up to Christmas – it’s really special to be part of. Our annual ‘Gift Tree’ is a lovely opportunity for people to help us make our patients’ Christmas Day a festive one.
“We’re aiming to collect over 900 gifts to make sure every patient staying with us receives a present, and we hope our amazing local residents and businesses will help support us again as they have done so brilliantly before.”
For older patients, ideas for presents include toiletries, puzzle books, jigsaws, books, chocolates or biscuits, scarves, hats and gloves. Toys, books or colouring books are great gifts for our younger patients.
