Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is one of the most common and serious types of cancer. More than 43,000 people are diagnosed with the condition every year in the UK.

Diagnosis

There’s a lot to take in and it can be shocking when you are told you may have lung cancer, require tests and therefore need to meet a specialist.

It can often be some time before your appointment, so you may feel worried.

Your healthcare team will tell you how to prepare for the tests and what is involved, and will also inform you of the results.

Specialist Treatment

Your treatment depends on several factors. These include what type of lung cancer you have, how big it is, and whether it has spread (the stage).

There are several treatment options available, and the doctors will take several different factors into consideration to work out the best treatment for you.

These treatments maybe undertaken singularly, or in combination depending on your needs.

They may be given in the form of oral or intravenous medication, and radiotherapy may also be considered if appropriate.
