Kempton Day Bed Unit

Kempton Day Bed Unit cares for children and their families undergoing surgery, blood tests and other procedures.

Kempton Day Bed Unit has ten beds with children looked after by a small team of nurses. During admission, the nurse will weigh your child and measure their temperature, heart rate, and respiration rate. If your child is having a procedure, you will also meet the anaesthetists and surgeon. During your child's visit you may may a member of the Play Team who can help reduce anxiety through play and distraction.

What to bring?

• If your child is under five years old, bring their red book with you.
• Baby feeds, nappies and other essentials.
• Snacks or drinks, especially if your child has a special diet.
• Any medication your child is taking.
• Your child's favourite toy, book or comforter.
• If your child is staying overnight, please bring nightwear and daywear for your child, as well as other essentials such as toothbrushes.
