Jim Shahi Unit

The Jim Shahi Unit is part of the Cardiology department.

It offers cardiac angiography, angioplasty (PCI), pacemaker insertion, electrical cardio version, automated implantable cardiovertor defibrillator (AICD), electrophysiology studies (EP studies), cardiac day care and catheterisation.

Jim Shahi was a dynamic, enthusiastic pioneer of cardiac angiography and angioplasty in Reading and we were proud to honour his memory by naming our department after him. We aim to continue his influence of excellence in our daily care and are also proud of our outstanding national record of response times to acute heart attack patients.
